Digital Geologic Map of the Nevada Test Site and Vicinity, Nye, Lincoln, and Clark Counties, Nevada, and Inyo County, California Digital Geologic Map of the Nevada Test Site and Vicinity, Nye, Lincoln, and Clark Counties, Nevada, and Inyo County, California
This digital geologic map of the Nevada Test Site (NTS) and vicinity, as well as its accompanying digital geophysical maps, are compiled at 1:100,000 scale. The map compilation presents new polygon (geologic map unit contacts), line (fault, fold axis, metamorphic isograd, dike, and caldera wall) and point (structural attitude) vector data for the NTS and vicinity, Nye, Lincoln, and Clark...

Hydrogeologic framework and ground-water levels, 1982 and 1996, middle Humboldt River basin, north-central Nevada Hydrogeologic framework and ground-water levels, 1982 and 1996, middle Humboldt River basin, north-central Nevada
The Humboldt River Basin encompasses an area of nearly 17,000 mi2 in north-central Nevada; it is the only major river basin that begins and ends entirely within the State (fig. 1). The study area for this report is the middle Humboldt River Basin, which consists of 14 hydrographic areas that encompass 7,400 mi2 (fig. 1 and table 1). The principal tributaries to the Humboldt River in the...

Gravity data of Nevada Gravity data of Nevada
Gravity data for the entire state of Nevada and adjacent parts of California, Utah, and Arizona are available on this CD-ROM. About 80,000 gravity stations were compiled primarily from the National Geophysical Data Center and the U.S. Geological Survey. Gravity data was reduced to the Geodetic Reference System of 1967 and adjusted to the Gravity Standardization Net 1971 gravity datum...

Geophysical expression of the Ghost Dance fault, Yucca Mountain, Nevada Geophysical expression of the Ghost Dance fault, Yucca Mountain, Nevada
Gravity and ground magnetic data collected along surveyed traverses across Antler and Live Yucca Ridges, on the eastern flank of Yucca Mountain, Nevada, reveal small-scale faulting associated with the Ghost Dance and possibly other faults. These studies are part of an effort to evaluate faulting in the vicinity of a potential nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain.

Depth to pre-Cenozoic basement in Southwest Nevada Depth to pre-Cenozoic basement in Southwest Nevada
An iterative procedure based on gravity data, surface geology, and an estimated density-depth function was used to estimate the depth to pre-Cenozoic basement at Yucca Mountain and vicinity.
