Gari Mayberry

I am the US Geological Survey (USGS) and US Agency for International Development Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance  (USAID/BHA) Natural Hazards and Disaster Risk Reduction Team Lead and Geoscience Advisor.  I lead the USAID/BHA team that leads on issues related to international geological and meteorological hazards and general disaster risk reduction issues, including climate change. I am a geologist/volcanologist who provides guidance and technical assistance on program development, disaster response, and mitigation activities in the fields of earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, and tsunamis to USAID/BHA, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, as well as other bureaus in USAID. I serve as liaison with the USGS, from which I am seconded, and help to manage the USGS-USAID Volcano Disaster Assistance Program and the Landslide and Earthquake Disaster Assistance Teams.
