Gary L Wilson
Gary Wilson is the Science Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist, for the USGS, Central Midwest Water Science Center in Rolla, Missouri.
Currently, Gary provides expert technical guidance on QA procedures and in areas of technical expertise. He will lead and coordinate the reviews of all data and studies by the Center's technical specialists to ensure they follow USGS policies and Fundamental Science Practices (FSP). Also, Gary will serve as the Center's primary liaison with the Water Mission Area Office of Quality Assurance (OQA). As such, Gary will lead the annual Internal Technical Review Process for the Center; and serving as the primary Center contact for coordinating Triennial External Reviews (TER).
At the beginning of his career, Gary worked closely with the MOWSC (Missouri Water Science Center) data unit for years on projects such as stormwater run-off, flood frequency, seepage studies, indirect measurements, general streamgaging, and even bathymetry work (he is a closet GIS person). More recently (2012-2022), Gary worked for the Water Mission Area providing national software support and policy guidance relating to AQUARIUS and other SW related data collection, processing, and publication issues. Gary still teaches several national training courses such as rating development, records processing, and hydrographer hydraulics.
