Irene J Fisher
Irene is a hydrologist at the USGS Water Resources Mission Area.
Irene Fisher is a Technical Quality Assurance Advisor for discrete water quality with the Office of Quality Assurance in the USGS Water Mission Area. Irene assists WSCs and the WMA by providing national technical guidance, consultation, and policy interpretation to support high‑quality water‑science practices.
Prior to working with the Office of Quality Assurance, Irene was a hydrologist for the New York Water Science Center, where she led and contributed to research characterizing the occurrence and persistence of wastewater-derived contaminants, current- and legacy-use pesticides, and per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) in both groundwater and surface-water settings. The research included documenting contaminant sources and pathways, evaluating environmental transport and fate, and quantifying concentrations across a diverse suburban/urban hydrologic setting.
