Rachel Mixon


Since joining the Survey in 2013, Rachel has been an enthusiastic participant in Carol Kendall's isotope biogeochemistry lab.  Prior to her work at the survey, Rachel graduated from the University of New Hampshire, Durham with a dual Bachelors in Biology and Classics in 2011.  Working closely with researchers at the survey and in academia, Rachel participates in field collections onboard the R/V Polaris and other subsequent vessels and field studies.  Her diverse research interests outside the survey has taken to to places as far as Toolik, Alaska to study biodiversity in the tunda, to studying invasive species in the seacoast area of New Hampshire. When not actively participating in field research, Rachel is involved in the tritium lab sample prep and analysis.  Additionally, she studies ammonium in the bay delta.
