Geologic setting, petrology, and geochemistry of zoned tungsten-bearing skarns at the Strawberry Mine, central Sierra Nevada, California Geologic setting, petrology, and geochemistry of zoned tungsten-bearing skarns at the Strawberry Mine, central Sierra Nevada, California
The Strawberry mine, 90 km northeast of Fresno, California, occurs on the margin of a small roof pendant of Early Jurassic metasedimentary rocks and middle Cretaceous metaigneous rocks. Middle Cretaceous granitic intrusions surround and intrude the roof pendant. Adjacent to one granodiorite intrusion, several subvertical marble layers are replaced by scheelite-bearing skarns. The skarns...

Stratigraphy and structure of the Strawberry Mine roof pendant, central Sierra Nevada, California Stratigraphy and structure of the Strawberry Mine roof pendant, central Sierra Nevada, California
The Strawberry mine roof pendant, 90 km northeast of Fresno, Calif., is composed of a sequence of metasedimentary rocks of probable Early Jurassic age and a sequence of metaigneous rocks of middle Cretaceous age. The metasedimentary rocks are a former miogeosynclinal sequence of marl and limestone now metamorphosed to calc-silicate hornfels and marble. A pelecypod found in the calc...

Paleozoic and Mesozoic deformations in the central Sierra Nevada, California Paleozoic and Mesozoic deformations in the central Sierra Nevada, California
Analysis of structural and stratigraphic data indicates that several periods of regional deformation, consisting of combined folding, faulting, cataclasis, and regional metamorphism, occurred throughout the central Sierra Nevada during Paleozoic and Mesozoic time. The oldest regional deformation occurred alono northward trends during the Devonian and Mississippian periods in most roof...

Geologic setting of the lead and zinc deposits, Drenchwater Creek area, Howard Pass Quadrangle, Western Brooks Range, Alaska Geologic setting of the lead and zinc deposits, Drenchwater Creek area, Howard Pass Quadrangle, Western Brooks Range, Alaska
Significant concentrations of galena, sphalerite, and minor barite are present in the Drenchwater Creek area, Howard Pass quadrangle, western Brooks Range, Alaska. Detailed geologic mapping indicates that galena, sphalerite and pyrite occur sporadically in a zone at least 1,830 m. long and 6-30 m. wide. The sulfides occur in tuff, or in dark chert and dark shale adjacent to tuff in the...

Nature of the angular unconformity between the Paleozoic metasedimentary rocks and the mesozoic metavolcanic rocks in the eastern Sierra Nevada, California Nature of the angular unconformity between the Paleozoic metasedimentary rocks and the mesozoic metavolcanic rocks in the eastern Sierra Nevada, California
Two major wall-rock sequences, the Paleozoic metasedimentary rocks and the Mesozoic metavolcanic rocks, in the eastern Sierra Nevada, California, are separated by an angular unconformity rather than by a fault as has been proposed by other investigators. The unconformity is parallel to formation contacts in the younger metavolcanic rocks and crosscuts formation contacts in the older...
