The Networks At Risk (NAR) Mapper identifies U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) monitoring locations where data collection is threatened due to funding shortages, staffing constraints, loss of site access, or safety concerns. It also identifies locations where monitoring has been discontinued and rescued. The mapper reflects changes from the past 13 months.
USGS is seeking replacement funding for each threatened activity. Without funding, some data collection may be discontinued.
The NAR Mapper was updated in 2026 to support its expansion from streamgages to include all USGS monitoring locations.
