York County Water Quality Dashboard

March 14, 2025

This dashboard has been created by the USGS for the York County Planning Commission and the York County Conservation District to display information collected from six active streamgages located in York County in south-central Pennsylvania. Collectively, the six monitored watersheds cover 730 square miles, or 80% of York County as well as parts of Adams and Cumberland counties in Pennsylvania and Carroll, Baltimore, and Harford counties in Maryland. This dashboard displays continuous (15-minute) streamflow and water quality (turbidity, nitrate, and specific conductance), estimated suspended-sediment, total nitrogen, and total phosphorus concentrations, and calculated suspended-sediment, total nitrogen, and total phosphorus loads and yields as well as annual summaries.

The data presented on this dashboard are important for understanding how much sediment, nitrogen, and phosphorus is being transported downstream, to understand long term trends in sediment and nutrients, and to evaluate the effects of best management practices (BMP) within the monitored watersheds.

This data provides the York County Planning Commission with data and information to inform County objectives and progress for meeting targets in the York County Watershed Implementation Plan for the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load goals.
