Publishing With the Six Guidelines for Successful Science Products

Publishing With the Six Guidelines for Successful Science Products

In summer 2014, SAFRR convened a Cadre of Relevant Experts (CORE) workshop that brought together USGS National Seismic Hazard Maps staff with outside risk communication experts in the social sciences, marketing, and design, on the topic "New Audiences, New Products for the National Seismic Hazard Maps." An important outcome of the workshop was an annotated list of six guidelines to develop products that successfully communicate science. Workshop participants, led by SAFRR disaster scientist Sue Perry, have drafted a report about the workshop and its guidelines. On January 22, 2015, another CORE workshop convened in Menlo Park, uniting the Menlo Park Publishing Service Center with experts on participatory processes and evaluation, to discuss how we might apply the six guidelines in order to produce publications about the workshop and its six guidelines.
