Data

Basic hydrologic data collection, processing, analysis, dissemination, and archiving are major parts of the California Water Science Center program. Streamflow data, for example, are used for flood and water-supply forecasts, planning and design, river regulation, streamflow statistics, and research investigations. Much of the data are available on a near-real-time basis by satellite telemetry.

Point cloud, digital surface model (DSM), and orthoimagery derived from historical aerial imagery of the South Cow Mountain Recreational Area, Lake County, California, May 27, 1977 Point cloud, digital surface model (DSM), and orthoimagery derived from historical aerial imagery of the South Cow Mountain Recreational Area, Lake County, California, May 27, 1977

The USGS, in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM), created a series of geospatial products of the South Cow Mountain Recreational Area, Lake County, California, using historic aerial imagery and structure-from-motion (SfM) photogrammetry methods. Products were generated from stereo historical aerial imagery acquired by the BLM in May of 1977. The aerial imagery were...

Idle well fluid measurements for oil and gas wells in California Idle well fluid measurements for oil and gas wells in California

This dataset consists of 119,494 lines of data consisting of idle well fluid level depth, auxiliary measurements, and well parameters from California oil and gas wells that were reported to the California Department of Conservation, Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM). The dataset was provided by CalGEM in March 2018 and includes measurements made from 1976 to 2018. There are 5...

Keswick Reservoir, California, Delft3D-FM Model Archive Keswick Reservoir, California, Delft3D-FM Model Archive

Application of Delft3D-FM model to Keswick Reservoir in California, for short-term (days) simulations. Model archive includes source code (open-source, created by Deltares in the Netherlands), input files, and output files in netCDF format. Source code will need to be compiled for the operating system and hardware being used. Instructions are included with the source code. A separate...

Total monthly water withdrawals for public supply by 12-digit hydrologic unit in the conterminous United States for 2015 Total monthly water withdrawals for public supply by 12-digit hydrologic unit in the conterminous United States for 2015

This dataset presents the total estimated monthly public-supply water withdrawal by 12-digit hydrologic unit code (HUC12) in the conterminous United States for 2015. Public-supply water use was estimated by spatially and temporally downscaling available data from each state. The total represents combined groundwater and surface water withdrawals for 83,178 watersheds. Public supply...

This model archive summary details the suspended-sediment concentration (SSC) model developed to compute 15-minute SSC values from 15-minute turbidity data for the period October 01, 2017 through September 30, 2020. The methods used follow U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) guidance as referenced in Office of Water Quality Technical Memorandum 2016.10 (USGS 2016) and USGS Techniques and...

Little Dry Creek and Cottonwood Creek Sediment Transport Data, 2012-2018, San Joaquin Watershed in the California Central Valley Little Dry Creek and Cottonwood Creek Sediment Transport Data, 2012-2018, San Joaquin Watershed in the California Central Valley

Two tributary watersheds¬ Cottonwood Creek and Little Dry Creek¬ to the greater San Joaquin watershed, in California’s Central Valley were assessed for sediment and flow dynamics, between water years (Oct. 1 to Sept. 30) 2011 and 2019. The two systems deliver suspended sediment to the San Joaquin River below Friant Dam, California. Because these two creeks are directly down river of...

Water chemistry data for samples collected at groundwater sites near the Orcutt Oil Field, September 2017?March 2018, Santa Barbara County, California Water chemistry data for samples collected at groundwater sites near the Orcutt Oil Field, September 2017?March 2018, Santa Barbara County, California

In cooperation with the California State Water Resources Control Board Oil and Gas Regional Groundwater Monitoring Program the U.S. Geological Survey collected and analyzed groundwater and associated quality control (QC) samples to assess regional groundwater quality overlying and adjacent to the Orcutt Oil Field during September 2017 through March 2018. Groundwater samples were...

GSFLOW model used to simulate the groundwater and surface resources of the San Antonio Creek Valley watershed, Santa Barbara County, California GSFLOW model used to simulate the groundwater and surface resources of the San Antonio Creek Valley watershed, Santa Barbara County, California

A three-dimensional integrated groundwater and surface-water model, GSFLOW, was developed to better understand and manage the groundwater system of the San Antonio Creek Valley watershed, Santa Barbara County, California. The model was calibrated to hydrologic conditions during water years 1948-2018. The model was used to evaluate the interaction between the groundwater and surface...
