Geochemical Analyses of Water, Mine tailings, Fluvial Suspended Sediments, Fluvial Bed Sediments, and Fluvial Flood Deposit Sediments from the Big River and Meramec River Drainage Basins, Missouri Geochemical Analyses of Water, Mine tailings, Fluvial Suspended Sediments, Fluvial Bed Sediments, and Fluvial Flood Deposit Sediments from the Big River and Meramec River Drainage Basins, Missouri

Geochemical data for aqueous, mine tailings, and sediment samples collected from the Big River and Meramec River drainage basins in southeastern Missouri are presented. The Big River drains historical lead, zinc, and barite mining districts, including the Old Lead Belt (OLB). Underground mining in the OLB resulted in large mine-waste chat piles and tailings impoundments that have...

Topographic and Bank Erosion Pin Data Used in Monitoring of Bank Erosion in Caulks Creek, Wildwood, Missouri, 2022–2023 Topographic and Bank Erosion Pin Data Used in Monitoring of Bank Erosion in Caulks Creek, Wildwood, Missouri, 2022–2023

Topographic data were collected along six reaches (study reach 1, study reach 2, study reach 3, study reach 4, study reach 5, and study reach 6) along Caulks Creek in Wildwood, Missouri, on multiple dates, using terrestrial light detection and ranging (t-lidar), Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), and conventional surveying techniques (Rydlund and Densmore, 2012).These data are...

Meteorological Database, Argonne National Laboratory, Illinois (ver. 2.0, 2025) Meteorological Database, Argonne National Laboratory, Illinois (ver. 2.0, 2025)

This data release (DR) is the update of the U.S. Geological Survey - ScienceBase data release by Bera (2024), with the processed data through September 30, 2024. The primary data for water year 2024 (a water year is the 12-month period, October 1 through September 30, in which it ends) is downloaded from ANL website (Argonne National Laboratory, 2025) and is processed following the...

Archive of the Hydraulic Model used in the Two-Dimensional Simulation of the Chain of Lakes on the Fox River near McHenry, Illinois Archive of the Hydraulic Model used in the Two-Dimensional Simulation of the Chain of Lakes on the Fox River near McHenry, Illinois

Forecasts of flows entering and leaving the Chain of Lakes on the Fox River in northeastern Illinois are critical information to water-resource managers operating the Stratton Dam at McHenry, Illinois. These managers determine the optimal operation of the Stratton Dam at McHenry, Ill., to manage Chain of Lakes pool levels and to help mitigate flooding in the Chain of Lakes system. In...

Modeled Nutrient and Sediment Concentrations from Major Rivers in Illinois Based on Continuous Monitoring from October 1, 2015, through September 30, 2022 Modeled Nutrient and Sediment Concentrations from Major Rivers in Illinois Based on Continuous Monitoring from October 1, 2015, through September 30, 2022

During water years 2016–2022 (a water year begins on October 1 and ends on September 30), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA), operated continuous monitoring stations on eight of the major rivers in Illinois to better quantify nutrient and sediment loadings from the State of Illinois to the Mississippi River...

Model Archive and Hydraulic and Fluvial Egg Drift Simulator (FluEgg) Results for Simulations of Grass Carp Eggs and Larval Drift in the Lower Sandusky River, Ohio Model Archive and Hydraulic and Fluvial Egg Drift Simulator (FluEgg) Results for Simulations of Grass Carp Eggs and Larval Drift in the Lower Sandusky River, Ohio

The U.S. Geological Survey simulated the drifts of grass carp eggs in the lower Sandusky River, Ohio, using the Fluvial Egg Drift Simulator (FluEgg) (Garcia and others, 2013; Zhu, 2019). The hydraulic inputs used in the FluEgg simulations were generated using a one-dimensional (1D) Hydrologic Engineering Center-River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) 5.0.3 model of the lower Sandusky River (HEC...

Bathymetric and Supporting Data for Selected Water Supply Lakes in Missouri, 2023 Bathymetric and Supporting Data for Selected Water Supply Lakes in Missouri, 2023

Water-supply lakes are the primary source of water for many communities throughout Missouri. Therefore, accurate and up-to-date estimates of lake capacity are important for managing and predicting adequate water-supply. Many of the water-supply lakes in Missouri were previously surveyed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in the early 2000s (Richards, 2013) and in 2013 (Huizinga, 2014)...

Hydrodynamic and Water-Temperature Model of a 21-Mile Reach of the Upper Illinois River, Illinois, 2020 – 2022 (ver. 1.1, October 2024) Hydrodynamic and Water-Temperature Model of a 21-Mile Reach of the Upper Illinois River, Illinois, 2020 – 2022 (ver. 1.1, October 2024)

A hydrodynamic and water-quality model (CE-QUAL-W2) was developed of a 21-mile reach of the upper Illinois River including a 3-mile reach of a major tributary, the Fox River. The CE-QUAL-W2 model is 2-dimensional in the vertical and longitudinal directions and averaged over the lateral direction. Continuous water quality and streamgage data provided time-series data for model boundary...
