Semi-automated and manual enumeration of bigheaded carps from recreational-grade side-scan sonar imagery, Perche Creek, MO, 2018 Semi-automated and manual enumeration of bigheaded carps from recreational-grade side-scan sonar imagery, Perche Creek, MO, 2018

The dataset consists of count data derived from a series of sonar images. The data are fish counts per image from 1) a computerized process to extract fish counts, and 2) three manual assessors. Each image has a total of four associated fish counts.

Field spectra, UAS-based hyperspectral and RGB images, and in situ measurements of turbidity and Rhodamine WT dye concentration from an experiment conducted at the USGS Columbia Environmental Research Center, Columbia, MO, on April 2, 2019 Field spectra, UAS-based hyperspectral and RGB images, and in situ measurements of turbidity and Rhodamine WT dye concentration from an experiment conducted at the USGS Columbia Environmental Research Center, Columbia, MO, on April 2, 2019

This data release includes field spectra, UAS-based hyperspectral and RGB images, and in situ measurements of turbidity and Rhodamine WT dye concentration acquired during an experiment performed at the USGS Columbia Environmental Research Center, near Columbia, Missouri, on April 2, 2019. The purpose of the experiment was to assess the feasibility of inferring concentrations of a visible...

Survival and hydrodynamic behavior of grass carp eggs and larvae in relation to turbulence and in-stream obstructions Survival and hydrodynamic behavior of grass carp eggs and larvae in relation to turbulence and in-stream obstructions

Data collected from a comprehensive set of hydrodynamic experiments conducted with live grass carp eggs and larvae, to evaluate drifting and swimming patterns with 3 different in-stream obstructions: (1) a gravel bump, (2) a single cylinder, and (3) submerged vegetation. The hydrodynamic behavior of eggs and larvae with each obstruction was continuously monitored for about 85 consecutive...

Segment-scale classification, large rivers of the Upper Midwest United States Segment-scale classification, large rivers of the Upper Midwest United States

This dataset is part of a multi-scale assessment and classification for segments of 15 rivers of the Upper Midwest United States that meet various criteria for largeness. All rivers are tributary to the Mississippi River system. The 11,600 kilometers (km) that qualified as large were parsed into 10-kilometer-long segments and classified by major alterations (free-flowing, navigation...

Orthoimagery and elevation data derived from UAS imagery for Palmyra Atoll, USA 2016 (ver. 1.1, November 2020) Orthoimagery and elevation data derived from UAS imagery for Palmyra Atoll, USA 2016 (ver. 1.1, November 2020)

Point clouds, high resolution digital surface models (DSM), and high resolution orthoimagery of Palmyra Atoll, USA, were generated from aerial 3-color and 5-band imagery collected October 2016 using Unoccupied Aerial Systems (UAS, or "drones"). Data were processed in sections corresponsing to flight areas using photogrammetry to generate three-dimensional point clouds (.las) by...

Amphibian monitoring data collected from Indiana hardwood forests, 2015-2016 Amphibian monitoring data collected from Indiana hardwood forests, 2015-2016

This data set contains information on detections of amphibians at four bottomland hardwood restoration sites in northeastern Indiana in 2015 and 2016. Amphibian communities were surveyed using four different methods - automated recording units, diurnal visual encounter surveys along transects, nocturnal transect surveys, and amphibian rapid assessments. The data set contains three tables...

Orthoimagery and elevation data for Bluffton Native Habitat Waterway, Indiana, 2016 Orthoimagery and elevation data for Bluffton Native Habitat Waterway, Indiana, 2016

High resolution aerial imagery of the Bluffton [Indiana] Native Habitat Waterway bottomland restoration site was used to generate 3D products and orthoimagery to document the condition of bottomland forest restorations planted between 2002 and 2009 and to complement field vegetation data collected in 2015 and 2016. Aerial images were collected on 07 September, 2016 using Unoccupied...

NE Indiana bottomland restoration vegetation, soils and carbon data, 2015 and 2016 NE Indiana bottomland restoration vegetation, soils and carbon data, 2015 and 2016

This data set includes tables providing location, environmental, vegetation, soils, and carbon sampling data collected in 2015 and 2016 at vegetation sampling units on restored areas and other habitats at sites in northeast Indiana, USA. "Sample_units.txt" provides location, environmental, soil physical and chemical properties for each sample location. "Subplot_ground_flora.txt" provides...

Diet items consumed by wild-caught black carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus) in the U.S. Diet items consumed by wild-caught black carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus) in the U.S.

An inventory (enumeration and taxonomic identification) of diet items consumed by wild-caught black carp, based on the examination of gut contents from fish that were collected in the lower Mississippi River drainage of the U.S.

Woody species crown and vegetation community data, Palmyra Atoll, 2016 Woody species crown and vegetation community data, Palmyra Atoll, 2016

Photo-interpretation of high-resolution aerial imagery was used to delineate individual stems of select woody species and to map vegetation communities at Palmyra Atoll, USA. Imagery collected using Unoccupied Aerial Systems in October, 2016, as well as derived elevation and mosaicked orthoimagery, were used to delineate individual crowns of coconut, Pisonia and other selected woody...

Black carp and grass carp morphometric measurements Black carp and grass carp morphometric measurements

Black carp Mylopharyngodon piceus and grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella are morphologically similar species imported from eastern Asia to North America as biological control organisms. Preferred identification methods are coloration and pharyngeal tooth form. Grass carp possess serrated teeth and black carp molariform teeth. Examination of pharyngeal teeth causes extensive damage to a...
