Northern California Earthquake Hazards Workshop

The Northern California Earthquake Hazards Workshop helps the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) meet its mission under the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program by improving our understanding of earthquakes and how they effect communities. USGS does this through research and monitoring networks, and by supporting complementary research by collaborators through a competitive grants program.

Each year the virtual three-day workshop aims to:

Improve communication between researchers and connect scientific work with community needs, and bring everyone up to date on the latest research findings.
Identify key unanswered questions about earthquake hazards.
Agree on priorities for short‑term and long‑term hazard and risk‑reduction work in northern California.

The USGS Earthquake Hazards Program annual Northern California Workshop is FREE and open to anyone interested in better defining earthquake hazards and risk in Northern California.
