Building Security: Real ID Access Control Enforcement
Identification: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has implemented a modification to the REAL ID Act of 2005, Public Law 109-13 that affects our building. Under the Act, we can only accept a state-issued driver's license or identification cards for access to Federal facilities if issued by states that are REAL ID compliant or have an extension. USGS requires all visitors to present government-issued identification for access to its facilities. For visitors presenting a state-issued driver's license or identification card, USGS may only accept such documents if they are issued by states that are REAL ID compliant. If the state that issued your license is listed as noncompliant, please bring an alternate form of government-issued photo ID, such as a US Passport, US Passport card, or military identification card to facilitate access.
If visitors don’t have acceptable identity documents, hosts will need to provide escort in order for the visitor to access your facility. As of April 7, 2015, the following jurisdictions do NOT meet the REAL ID standards or driver’s license requirement: American Samoa, Arizona, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and New York.
Time: The course will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. on day one and two, ending at 3:00 on the third day. The building opens at 7:45 a.m.
Contact Information: The best way to contact us is by sending an e-mail to: fort_negotiation_training@usgs.gov
