Environmental Biochemistry and Nutrition

Aquatic organisms require specific dietary components to survive and reproduce including nutrients, vitamins, and other macromolecules.  Like humans, many of these nutritional items can only be obtained from their diets and are not always readily available.  Researchers at Leetown Science Center are conducting studies to characterize the nutritional needs of key aquatic organisms as well as the distribution of these nutritional elements in the environment.
