Benin

In 2024, Benin was not a globally significant producer of mineral commodities. Production of mineral commodities represented only a minor part of the economy of Benin. Mineral commodities produced in Benin included cement. The legislative framework for the mineral sector in Benin is provided by law No. 2006–17 (the mining code). The Ministère de l’Énergie, de l’Eau et des Mines [Ministry of Energy, Water and Mines] (MEEM) oversees the mineral sector, enforces mining policies and regulations, and promotes environmental protection. Most mineral commodities were produced by private companies.
