Statistics and information on the mining industry in Djibouti.

Overview

In 2024, Djibouti was not a globally significant producer of mineral commodities, and the production of mineral commodities represented only a minor part of the economy of Djibouti. Mineral commodities produced in Djibouti included cement, clay, limestone, salt, and sand and gravel. The legislative framework for the mineral sector in Djibouti is provided by law No. L 138, SB, 16, 7th of July 23, 2016, and law No. 117/AN/05 of October 16, 2005. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources oversees the mineral sector and oversees the development and regulation of the country’s energy and mineral sector. Most mineral commodities were produced by private companies that had some Government participation.
