Statistics and information on the mining industry in Honduras.

Overview

In 2024, Honduras was not a globally significant producer of mineral commodities. Production of mineral commodities represented only a minor part of the economy. Mineral commodities produced in Honduras included cement, gold, lead, silver, and zinc. The legislative framework for the mineral sector in Honduras is provided by Decree No. 32/2012 (the General Mining Law). The Honduran Institute of Geology and Mines oversees the mineral sector and provides administrative, technical, and regulatory services. In early 2024, the Honduran National Congress enacted Decree No. 18-2024, an environmental protection law. Most mineral commodities were produced by private companies.
