Statistics and information on the mining industry in Liberia.

Overview

In 2024, Liberia was not a globally significant producer of mineral commodities. Production of diamond, gold, and iron ore contributed 18.5% to Liberia’s gross domestic product. Exports of these commodities accounted for \$1.1 billion or 85% of the country’s total goods exports. Other mineral commodities produced in Liberia included stone, sand, and gravel. The legislative framework for the mineral sector in Liberia is provided by the Minerals and Mining Law of 2000. The Ministry of Mines and Energy oversees the mineral sector and provides for the exploration and management of Liberia's mineral and energy resources. Most mineral commodities were produced by large-scale mining companies, small-scale producers, and artisanal producers.
