Statistics and information on the mining industry in Nicaragua.

Overview

In 2024, Nicaragua was not a globally significant producer of mineral commodities. Production of mineral commodities represented only a minor part of the economy. Mineral commodities produced in Nicaragua included cement, gold, gypsum, lime, sand and gravel (construction), silver, and stone. The legislative framework for the mineral sector in Nicaragua is provided by Law No. 387. The General Directorate of Mines oversees the mineral sector and provides administrative, technical, and regulatory services. Most mineral commodities were produced by private companies. In 2024, Nicaragua generated nearly \$1.4 billion in mineral exports. Gold remained the country’s primary export, generating \$1.35 billion in revenue.
