Statistics and information on the mining industry in Panama.

Overview

In 2024, Panama was not a globally significant producer of mineral commodities. Production of mineral commodities represented only a minor part of the economy. Mineral commodities produced in Panama included cement, gold, lime, and salt. The legislative framework for the mineral sector in Panama is provided by Decree Law No. 23 of 1963 (the Code of Mineral Resources). The Ministry of Commerce and Industries, through the National Directorate of Mineral Resources, oversees the mineral sector and provides administrative, technical, and regulatory services. Most mineral commodities were produced by private companies.
