Statistics and information on the mining industry in South Sudan.

Overview

In 2024, South Sudan was not a globally significant producer of mineral commodities. The production of mineral commodities, apart from crude petroleum, represented only a minor part of the economy of South Sudan. Mineral commodities produced in South Sudan included crude petroleum and artisanal gold. The legislative framework for the mineral sector in South Sudan is provided by the Mining Act No. 36 of 2012 and the Petroleum Act of 2012. The Ministry of Mining oversees the mineral sector. Most mineral commodities were produced by international and domestic private companies.
