Statistics and information on the mining industry in Taiwan.

Overview

In 2024, mineral commodities produced in Taiwan included pig iron, secondary lead, and raw steel. Production of the mining and quarrying sector represented only a minor part of the economy of Taiwan. The legislative framework for the mineral sector in Taiwan is provided by the Mining Act of 1930 (as amended in 2016) and the Sand and Gravel Excavation Act of 2003 (as amended in 2021).

The Geological Survey and Mining Management Agency oversees the mineral industry. Government ownership was limited mainly to aluminum (China Steel Aluminium Corp.) and steel (China Steel Corp. and its subsidiary Dragon Steel Corp.).
