Statistics and information on the mining industry in Timor-Leste.

Overview

In 2024, Timor-Leste was not a globally significant producer of mineral commodities. Production of industrial minerals represented only a minor part of the economy of the country. Mineral commodities produced in Timor-Leste included sand and gravel (construction). The legislative framework for the mineral sector in Timor-Leste is provided by Decree-Law No. 12/2021. The National Petroleum and Minerals Authority (Autoridade Nacional do Petroleo e Minerais) managed and regulated petroleum and mining activities in Timor-Leste. Most mineral commodities were produced by domestic private companies.
