Statistics and information on the mining industry in Yemen.

Overview

In 2024, Yemen was not a globally significant producer of mineral commodities. Production of industrial minerals represented only a minor part of the economy of the country. Mineral commodities produced in Yemen included cement, gypsum, limestone, salt, raw steel, and steel products. The legislative framework for the mineral sector in the country is provided by law No. 22 of 2010. The Ministry of Oil and Minerals oversees the mineral sector and provides services including monitoring mineral industry activities, preparing plans and strategies relevant to the development of the mineral industry, and managing the country’s mineral policies. Most mineral commodities were produced by domestic and foreign private companies.
