USGS assistance to USEPA on the Fair Lawn Superfund site in Bergen County, New Jersey
New Jersey WSC Archived Projects
The USEPA wants USGS to evaluate available hydrogeologic and groundwater-quality data to determine if there is sufficient data to develop a model to estimate contributing area of water to the wells. The goals of this project are to determine if available data is sufficient to develop a groundwater flow model to estimate contributing area of water to wells and to determine what data needs to be collected to develop a groundwater flow model of the area.

END DATE: 31-AUG-2005
PROJECT NUMBER: 2454ABG
STUDY OBJECTIVES:
To determine if available data is sufficient to develop a groundwater flow model to estimate contributing area of water to wells. To determine what data needs to be collected to develop a groundwater flow model of the area.
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM:
The sources of volatile organic compounds in public supply wells in Fairlawn Township New Jersey are poorly understood. The USEPA wants USGS to evaluate available hydrogeologic and groundwater-quality data to determine if there is sufficient data to develop a model to estimate contributing area of water to the wells.
STRATEGY AND APPROACH:
Collect and evaluate available data.
