There are a variety of ways to interact with the USGS and its science. We invite you to explore the following information about doing business with us, partnering with our science programs, and being part of the USGS workforce.

Internships and student employment

The NJ WSC offers diverse employment opportunities for students in biology, hydrology, computer science, geographic information systems, geology, administration, and many other fields. Many NJ WSC employees have begun their career with the USGS by working as student intern during the summer. Student interns work on a variety of field and office tasks depending on their skills, education and goals.

Volunteering

Volunteers use their spare time to help the environment by assisting WSC staff with a variety of basic field and office tasks. Many high school students meet class requirements for civic support at the NJ WSC.

If you don't have a personal contact with the NJ WSC staff; Connect with a Section Chief or the Assistant Director about your interests.
