USGS Researcher attends Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE awards ceremony in Monaco

Dr. Christina Kellogg (Research Microbiologist, SPCMSC) is a member of the judging panel that will award winners of the $7 million dollar Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE during the final award announcement at the Musée Océanographique de Monaco on May 31.

The Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE is a global competition that challenged teams to advance deep-sea technologies for autonomous, high-resolution ocean exploration. The main prize is based on autonomous mapping of the sea floor and there is also a NOAA bonus prize that incentivizes the development of sensors to autonomously sense and track chemical or biological signals back to their source.
