Dust data from Kaibab National Forest and Grand Canyon National Park near the Pinyon Plain Mine, 2025
These physical and geochemical (elemental) data are from dust collected in the Kaibab National Forest and Grand Canyon National Park near the Pinyon Plain Mine. Samples were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey Utah Water Science Center (West Valley City, Utah) using low‑cost passive samplers. The samples were processed at the Utah Water Science Center, and elemental analyses were performed at the University of Utah’s ICP‑MS Metals and Strontium Isotope Facility within the Department of Geology and Geophysics (Salt Lake City, Utah). The dataset characterizes concentrations of uranium, arsenic, lead, cadmium, copper, and other metals of concern that have high concentrations in Breccia Pipe Uranium ore in the region. These data can be used to evaluate the dispersion of ore‑related elements in downwind environments near the Pinyon Plain Mine.
