EcoFlows streamflow and gage height data in the South Fork Spread Creek Basin, Wyoming, and Shields River and North Fork Flathead River Basins, Montana
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Wyoming-Montana Water Science Center (WY-MT WSC), in collaboration with the USGS Northern Rocky Mountain Science Center (NOROCK), measured streamflow in three headwaters basins in Wyoming and Montana to better quantify streamflow, particularly during lower flows in the late summer and fall. The WY-MT WSC installed two streamgages in each of the three basins: South Fork Spread Creek, Wyoming; Shields River, Montana; and North Fork Flathead River, Montana. The two streamgages per basin were located in a nested fashion, such that the uppermost streamgage was located on a tributary to the downstream site. In addition to the streamgages, operated September 2018 through September 2022, NOROCK installed pressure transducers at twelve tributaries without streamgages that were identified upstream from the most downstream streamgage. The hourly stage data recorded by the pressure transducers at the additional sites, along with discrete streamflow measurements collected by the WY-MT WSC and NOROCK, were used to create rating curves to calculate streamflow at the sites. This data release includes discrete and continuous gage height and streamflow measurements and rating curves.
