Environmental DNA and Fish Capture Data from Round Goby Surveys on the Schoharie Creek, New York
February 24, 2026
This data release contains site location information, environmental DNA (eDNA) data, and fish capture data from round goby (Neogobius melanostomus) surveys conducted on parts of the Schoharie Creek, New York, during 2024 and 2025. Data were collected in two phases. During Phase 1 (March–July 2024), a rapid assessment of the round goby invasion front (furthest upstream extent of the population) using eDNA and electrofishing was applied to the downstream reaches of Schoharie Creek. During Phase 2 (August 2024–November 2025), a structured, long-term sampling program was implemented in which seven sites clustered tightly around the invasion front were sampled monthly with eDNA and electrofishing.
