Lidar-Derived Watershed Boundaries for Stream Gages and Selected Pour Points in Vermont, United States
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans), derived watershed boundaries for the State of Vermont at the 1-meter resolution using lidar Digital Elevation Models (DEMs). Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software was used to hydrologically enforce DEMs and delineate watershed boundaries at 402 selected ungaged pour point locations. The lidar-derived watershed boundaries are comparable to the 12-digit Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC12) watersheds from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) National Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) and have an identifier attribute field that has a one-to-one match. Watershed boundaries also were delineated for 81 USGS streamgage locations throughout the state.
Shapefiles (.shp) representing the VT lidar watersheds and USGS streamgage watershed boundaries are provided in the VT_Watershed_Layers and VT_USGS_Streamgage_Layers zipped folders. Shapefiles containing breaching lines used for hydrologic enforcement throughout the state are provided in the VT_Lidar_Breach_Lines zipped folder. The pour points from which the watersheds were derived also are provided as shapefiles in their respective zipped folders.
