Luminescence and Radiocarbon Data for Quaternary activity of the Deadwood fault, west-central Idaho, U.S.A., 2021-2024
October 28, 2026
The Deadwood fault in the western Idaho Batholith in west-central Idaho, USA is a north-south trending zone of complex fault traces featuring minimal evidence of Quaternary movement. This data release contains luminescence and radiocarbon data from trench sediments exposed at Habit Creek and Trail Creek along the Deadwood Fault. The dataset includes 22 luminescence samples analyzed at the USGS Luminescence Geochronology Laboratory and 17 radiocarbon samples analyzed by Beta Analytic, all collected in collaboration with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. These data provide numerical age constraints used to evaluate the timing of fault activity, earthquake recurrence, and long-term slip rates associated with the Deadwood Fault.
