Velocity distribution over a large submersed aquatic vegetation bed for 3 seasons in the Mississippi River, Navigation Pool 13, 2024.

September 30, 2026

This dataset contains data collected with an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) to measure velocity profiles over a large area with established submersed aquatic vegetation within the impounded area of the Mississippi River Navigation Pool 13, located northeast of Fulton, Illinois. Velocity profiles were obtained using a Xylem brand (San Diego, California) SonTek M9 ADCP for three separate seasons: Spring, Summer, and Fall. Positioning used a Trimble Real-Time-Kinematic Global Navigation Satellite System. This data release consists of three American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) text files that contain processed velocity data exported from the ADCP software, interpolated mean speed (m/s) GeoTiff rasters, and the survey footprint in shapefile format.
