Assateague Island National Seashore

Assateague Island National Seashore lies on a long and narrow barrier island off the western side of the Delmarva Peninsula. The island is constantly reshaped by wind and waves, and these powerful forces lead to a place of fascinating geology and ecology. Plant and animal life have adapted to harsh conditions: storms, salt spray, wind, and scarce fresh water.
