Delineated watersheds and snapped locations for select streamgages in and near Wyoming
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Wyoming Water Development Office, delineated watersheds for 800 active and discontinued USGS streamgages in and near Wyoming. This data release includes shapefiles of streamgage location points and polygons of their delineated watersheds. Streamgage locations were snapped to the USGS High Resolution National Hydrography Dataset flowlines to ensure obtaining the correct watershed delineation, and watershed basin characteristics were computed from USGS published basin characteristic Flow-Conditioned Parameter Grids (FCPG) that represent various environmental, geological, and land use datasets. This data release is part of a larger study to develop a StreamStats application for the State of Wyoming. StreamStats is a web-based computer program that can be utilized for: (1) delineation of drainage areas, (2) extraction of basin characteristics, and (3) computations of streamflow statistics at locations with and without streamgages.
