Sea Turtle Nesting Decision Points and Beach Profile Data on Florida Beaches

This dataset, collected and prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center (USGS - SPCMSC), includes sea turtle nesting decision point locations and cross-shore beach profiles at those locations. The data were collected by a person walking with a survey backpack equipped with a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver and GPS antenna. The surveys were conducted on 'high-density' sea turtle nesting beaches in Florida, specifically at Melbourne Beach, South Hutchinson, Jensen Beach, Jupiter Island, and Juno Beach. The horizontal position data are provided in the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83) Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) coordinate system, Zone 17 North (17N), referenced to the. The elevation data are provided in the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88), GEOID 12B.
