Field Spectral Measurements in Smith Creek Playa, NV
Detailed Description
USGS scientist Todd Hoefen makes spectral measurements with a field portable spectrometer at a remote playa in Black Rock Desert, NV. These measurements are used to calibrate and validate data collected by imaging spectrometers (hyperspectral imagers) from aircraft and spacecraft. The result of this activity is better accuracy and detail in surface mineral maps derived from remotely-sensed data.
