USGS hosted a delegation of scientists from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Water Resources & Irrigation (MWRI), at the USGS Idaho Water Science Center in Boise (May 11–15, 2026).

USGS and MWRI participated in bilateral meetings for science and technology exchange regarding modernization of groundwater monitoring networks to support science-based management of groundwater resources for agriculture, drinking water, energy and critical minerals development in Kazakhstan. USGS scientists from the Water Resources Mission Area; the Office of International Programs and Water Science Centers in New York, Upper Midwest, and Idaho participated in meeting planning and technical presentations.
