Detailed Description

A reconstructed historical fence offset by rupture and displacement along the San Andreas Fault caused by the earthquake of 1906. This exhibit is along the Earthquake Trail near the Bear Valley Visitor Center. The original fence at this location was offset about 18 feet (5.5 m). As much as 26 feet (8 m) of horizontal surface slip was reported on the fault in the Olema area (Gilbert, 1908).
