Activity remains low in Kīlauea's lower East Rift Zone

Taken on the afternoon of August 11, this drone image shows the interior of the fissure 8 cone with its remaining molten lava and crusted-over channels. Red areas within the cone are tephra oxidized by past gas emissions, which currently remain low.
