Detailed Description

Although famous for its petroleum resources, not all of the North Slope of Alaska is rich with oil, according to the latest USGS assessment of conventional resources for rock formations located west of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska.

1.4 Trillion Cubic Feet of Natural Gas
Mean estimate of undiscovered, technically recoverable conventional natural gas resources in the Western North Slope region.

No Oil Estimate
No estimate for oil was provided because the rock formations that were assessed did not have the right conditions to retain much oil.

The amount of natural gas exported from the North Slope due to the lack of infrastructure for carrying gas to market.
