Atlanta Airport LCMAP Spectral Magnitude

This animation shows the cumulative spectral changes associated with construction projects at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, GA, as captured and characterized by the USGS Land Change Monitoring, Assessment, and Projection (LCMAP) initiative's Spectral Magnitude (SCMAG) product. The SCMAG change values for each year from 2002 through 2010 are overlaid on aerial imagery of the airport grounds, with each additional year's data added atop the previous year. The animation shows the SCMAG product's unique ability to capture the impact of Earth surface changes that do not alter broad categories of land use.
