Canyonlands - the Island in the Sky District

Junction Butte and Grand View Point are at the end of the Park Road in the southern end of the Island in the Sky District. The high mesa in the Island-in-the-Sky District is composed of high cliffs of Wingate Sandstone, Kayenta Formation (upper pink, thin, ledge-forming sandstone), and lower part of the Navajo Sandstone (gray-to-white caprock).
