Capulin Volcano - Steeply-dipping beds of volcanic ash and cinders
Detailed Description
Steeply-dipping beds of volcanic ash and cinders are exposed along the road to the summit of Capulin Volcano. These volcanic tephra deposits probably accumulated in the final stages of the volcanic eruption, possibly as recently as 2,400 years ago (Scott and others, 1990). The tephra deposits on the surface are slowly weathering into soil.
