Charlotte and Monroe, North Carolina

In 2022, President Joe Biden pardoned two turkeys, Chocolate and Chip. The two holiday birds hail from a ranch in Monroe, North Carolina.

This false color image provides more contrast between urban and farmland. The gray areas are the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, about an hour away from Monroe. Landsat satellites can help farmers understand their crop health using different parts of the light spectrum. This image uses infrared and red light. The light green splotches around Monroe are agricultural fields left fallow after harvest. The darker green splotches have healthier vegetation.

Chocolate and Chip can be visited at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, where they will spend their retirement.
