Cheryl Morrison holds a skeleton of the deep-sea coral Lophelia pertus
Detailed Description
Dr. Morrison's lab is studying genetic connectivity among reefs formed by the deep-sea coral Lophelia pertusa in the North Atlantic Ocean. These studies take a seascape genomics approach, combining high resolution molecular markers and environmental variation to identify sources and sinks of coral larvae that may improve predictions of where vulnerable habitats are likely to occur, helping managers to decrease impacts of human activities.
