PHENOLOGY, or the timing of the annual cycles of plants and animals, is extremely sensitive to climate change. And much like a Taurus, phenology is stubborn and down to earth, taking its time, even as seasons change.

But when pressures like climate change force phenology to switch it up, they can become a little unpredictable.

By taking time to really think things through, studies have shown that the timing of the first signs of Spring are no longer arriving during their usual times of the year across the U.S., impacting species that align their seasonal habits based on the onset of Spring.

For example, plants may bloom before butterflies emerge to pollinate them, or caterpillars may emerge before migratory birds arrive to feed them to their young.
