Dinosaur National Monument - Green River and Yampa River Canyon

Detailed Description

This wide-angle view shows the passage of the Green River (Canyon of Lodore) on the left and the Yampa River Canyon on the right. The confluence of the Green and Yampa Rivers is hidden behind Steamboat Rock (lower center). Below the confluence, the Green River flows through Whirlpool Canyon. The Mitten Park Fault and associated monoclinal fold is on the left. The fold continues across the landscape and forms part of the southern flank of Douglas Mountain in the distance. This view is from the end of the Harpers Corner Trail (a 2-mile round trip hike) at the end of the Harpers Corner Self-guiding Scenic Drive.
