Dune erosion on Ocracoke Island

Detailed Description
Elevated water levels during Hurricane Florence eroded the dunes on Ocracoke Island, transported sand inland across the road, and deposited sand on top of old overwash fans from previous events. The probability of dune erosion for this location was 96%, while the probably for overwash and inundation were less than 3%. The extended duration of wave impacts likely eroded the dunes, allowing them to be overtopped by waves.
